Our Research

  • SARS-CoV-2

The Lab has contributed to many aspects of SARS-CoV-2 biology, particularly to drug resistance. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has winded down, infections still remain rampant and an issue for many. We continue to investigate the virus and drug resistance given its pertinence to public health, as well as because it can serve as a model virus due to the reagents and experience that we have built.

  • Pandemic Preparedness

It is evident that we will continue to witness the emergence of viruses into humans, and that they may be pathogenic, as several recent examples have laid bare. We seek to develop a knowledge base as well as antivirals that may serve as preparatory efforts for the next virus that may arise.

  • Discovery Efforts

We are in an era in which millions of viruses and viral sequences are known. While viruses have typically received the negative limelight in their role as pathogens, they have also served to provide immense biological knowledge and technological tools. We have several discovery programs to search for such useful virology.
